| Map Description |
This is the the sequel to the successful Spiral Of Destruction (2-2). The mountainous area spirals towards the middle. In the middle of the map is a large ore and gem field, likely to be fought over by the participants in the battle. The corners of the map are the location of the tech structures, easily defendable, although those who turtle there shall pay the price. It is also likely in battle that the cliff tops shall be used by all teams for both defensive and offensive roles, make sure you don't get left out.
Note: The AI suffers on this map due to layout. This is a problem with the game and not the map. Skirmish is available, but can end up like shooting fish in a barrel.

The bases are arrayed around a watery center, and they exit to an outer ring of land which connects them. This positions them rather close to each other as the Kirov flies... air power rules here. Cliffs are used to create chasm-like barriers (which bar movement but don't block fire) around the bases. The only structures are 4 oil derricks out where they're likely to get creamed by passing tanks. The water is a barrier only; it cannot be entered by any amphibious units, and shipyard building is disabled.
Tips: Artillery and air units can be key. Miners can become very vulnerable.

The Tiberian Sun map by the same name was used as a base for the creation of this map. However it has been extensively reworked and detailed, enlarging the base areas for the larger buildings used in RA2/YR. Thunder and lightning flashes occur throughout the game in order to recapture the post-apocalyptic feel of the original. There are lots of resources scattered all over the map, so you won't find any derricks, but in the central area you'll find a couple of Tech Airports (RA2 version) or Secret Labs (YR version). There are also a pair of working tunnels!
Tips: This is a big map so early rushes are unlikely to work well. Bridges cannot be destroyed. There's a lot of money to be had for those with well-developed mining operations. You will need to unshroud both ends of a tunnel before you can use it, and you should move units through tunnels a few at a time so that they will all use it.

Completely rebuilt versions of my RA2 map "Gem Pit", which I made quite a long time ago. The layout is the same but much more terrain detail has been added. The design has been enlarged somewhat and bridge placement changed, so that in skirmish games, the AI will sometimes make use of flanking attacks. Additionally, there is much less in the way of resources in these current versions - all of the gems and ore are in the middle, where you must fight for it. Tech buildings can be found in the corners, instead of the neutral capturable factories that the original map featured. So many changes were made that I decided to offer these maps as new maps in their own right, rather than offer them as updated versions of the original "Gem Pit", which is still available. The Yuri's Revenge version also features a pair of Tech Secret Labs.
Tips: Defend your miners; don't get frozen out of the Gem Pit. Controlling the concrete bunkers are the key to defending your flanks and the passes leading to the tech buildings in the corners. In the abandoned Soviet outposts (where the airports are) you'll find some money crates - but beware, things are not what they seem. The bears by the oil derricks might wander around, and are much more lethal than you might expect, so keep your engineers safe.

mael·strom: 1) a powerful often violent whirlpool sucking in objects within a given radius 2) something resembling a maelstrom in turbulence
Prepare yourself for the ultimate resource war map! All players must fight for the single distant ore field. All units must pass through this ore field to get from one base to another. The resulting carnage in the center of this map is bloody indeed. Enemy units are not the only hazards there; this area is wracked by frequent isolated lighting strikes (complete with ambient light flashes), which are randomly attracted to the ore mines as if they were lightning rods. All players are given free radar from the start, and the radar screen will alert you to the location of each lightning strike when it occurs. Intricately constructed terrain makes the map seem much larger than it really is.
Normal Ore resource gathering rules do not allow for sufficient income on this map, so several key modifications were made. Miners are much faster, and hold twice as much ore. Also, ore mines produce new ore much more frequently. You'll find a couple of derricks near each base, but be advised that while they will give you a little extra seed money when you first capture them, from then on they will only produce half what they normally do. Another mod added to help you come back when you're on the ropes: Simply owning a Barracks gives to access to Paradrops!
Tips: Teching up early is probably unwise; concentrate on building a strong economy. Build extra miners because you will lose several. Remember miners are very speedy, so among other things, they are also very good at running away from danger. Keep in mind that their doubled storage capacity means that they will spend twice as much time actually gathering ore. Prepare for early paradrop attacks - they become available 5 minutes after building a Barracks. There's only one way in or out of each base, making sieges possible.

Designed for fast-paced 6-way battle. The bases are placed close to each other, with cliffs separating them. The small body of water in the center ensures that naval vessels can strike any base within moments after being built. An airport can be found in the mountains in each corner. There's not enough room for everyone to maintain a navy, and not enough airports to go around... so don't get frozen out!
Tips: Capture the derricks on the cliffs on either side of your base, and be prepared to defend them. These areas have very uneven terrain which limits the ability to build off these derricks. Naval superiority can be the key to victory; if you can't achieve it then don't let anyone else do it. Build a satellite refinery operation off a captured airport and you should have all the money you can spend.

You start off with 1 Oil Derrick to capture near your base and an ore field that you have to share with a neighbor. On Bacchus Plateau your miners can collect the gems that are there for you, and the plateau is surrounded by Tech Buildings that are located in the valley below.
Hint: This is a small map, so strike as soon you can to eliminate your neighbor, otherwise he can be real irritating during the game. Play in skirmish in Free-For-All mode: it's fast, it's fun, have fun!
